Clock Design
This project was completed for a class, Digital Solid Modeling. The challenge was to use the laser cutter to design a clock. I created a clock with three layers of acrylic, a clear layer, a pink layer, a white layer, and a black layer, held together with post screws. The colored layers were obtained by spray painting one side of the clear acrylic, but laying that side down during assembly to maintain the look of the acrylic. My goal was to have four layers that only required the screws for assembly, which I was able to obtain by creating a pattern of completely connecting flowers and centers in SolidWorks. Below are some initial sketches, renderings in Keyshot, and the final physical model. I drew inspiration from patterns found in nature, specifically flowers and branches.
